Kunsthalle Galapagos

The Kunsthalle at Galapagos conceptualized by Curator Elizabeth Grady as a space for site specific installation from emerging international artists. Located in the second floor of a former stable building the design sought to make clear distinction between existing and new. The troughed stable floor gaps were filled with tinted concrete to leave the grid visible. The exposed concrete ceiling with a hundred years of paint was clear sealed and tension rods were in their intrusive locations. The galleries open plan and light grid allowed for a multitude of installation types. Two mathematically resolved viewing walls stand opposite each other for large formal works.
