As a major emerging arts gallery, the Roebling Hall design had to accommodate a wide range of programming from traditional wall hung works to large installations to video. Much of the design focus in creating the gallery was to make the architecture stand back to privilege the viewing of art. In this respect, much effort was given to recessing mechanical systems in coffers and locating Cat 5, S Video, and other cables behind walls but leaving them accessible through a rigorous mapping of their drop locations. Gallery wall proportions are laid out using proscriptive geometries that facilitate eye level and foot candle levels optimal for viewing of works.
