The longtime owner of a metal scrapyard approached Cycle Projects to design a small mixed use building with a ground floor commercial space and two floor through apartments. The project was drastically changed after the financial collapse. CYPR took a strategy of utilizing simple and efficient materials in careful and controlled ways to achieve an aesthetically rigorous design. The combination of over the counter materials, tight construction administration and limited moments of custom design resulted in this successful development, since published in the NY times for its design strength yet still falling far under the budget of neighboring properties of the same use.
