Wythe Studios

This former knitting factory space was a gloomy labyrinth of narrow passages and blocked windows prior to this 16,000 SF interior gut renovation. The history of the building is celebrated in the treatment of connections between new and old construction. The adaptive re-use design attempts to facilitate interaction and collaboration between tenants of multiple creative disciplines, while providing a professional face to the public and clients.

The tenant spaces may serve as offices, retail, or showrooms depending on their modes of business. Transparency is offered through the corridor storefront windows, which display the interior workings of each space. A kitchen, rest rooms, mail area, and a lounge located near the entry are shared by all tenants. Unlike the maze-like corridors and opaque offices of other retrofitted warehouses, here, face to face relationships may develop helping a creative community find its center.
