Making Space at Eileen Fisher (Boerum Hill)

Making Space is a community centered retail experience from Eileen Fisher. The program provides a curated selection of current collections, hosts workshops and has rotating neighborhood events.

Produced in collaboration with Eileen Fisher’s design team including Mark Goulet and Jena Pace, we sought to turn this late nineteenth century carriage factory space into a two floor retail experience. The adaptive reuse approach preserved much of the character of the structure by maintaining exposed finishes and defunct mechanical elevator rails. The facade was largely left ‘as is,’ exhibiting its many iterations over time while adding a new insertion of a low iron square frameless glazing just beyond the façade face. Interior brick was treated with a custom white wash, and most lighting fixtures were hung from above.
