Cycle Projects, in close collaboration with ABC Home, adapts a portion of the historic Empire Stores warehouse, once used for molasses storage, into a light-filled restaurant that contrasts with the building’s typically dark and heavy interior. The design retains the existing timber structure and masonry walls, while introducing a series of interventions that brighten and soften the space. European white oak flooring replaces concrete, and a layered lighting strategy, developed in collaboration with L’Observatoire, combines custom, vintage, and contemporary fixtures to bring warmth and clarity to the space. Reflective surfaces help extend light across the room.

A bar anchors the room, while a stained glass-enclosed private dining room provides a focal point along the existing schist wall. The kitchen remains open, with ribbed glass filtering light and softening views into the cooking area. Vintage furnishings are paired with contemporary elements, continuing the visual language established across the ABC restaurants.
